One On One with Chris Shearin

Updated: Oct 21, 2019

This week I interviewed Mizzou signee and CB Chris Shearin from IMG Academy. Shearin is a tall, fast, and strong CB who hopes to bring a new dynamic, versatile skill set to the Mizzou secondary next fall.

Chris finished his season at IMG in October with an interception and 5 passes defended to go along with 13 tackles. Shearin was a lockdown corner for IMG and looks to continue his great play at Mizzou.

I asked Chris many questions regarding his recruitment process and love for the school. Read below what he had to say:

Q: What was your experience at IMG Academy like and how do you feel they prepared you for college?

-

Chris: “It’s the best of the best man and you get there knowing you have to live up to that standard.”

Q: What did you think when Mizzou first offered and when did you know it was the school for you?

-

Chris: “Mizzou has always been a dream school of mine! When they first offered me I knew that’s where I wanted to be.”

Q: You said Mizzou has always been somewhat of a dream school of yours. Did you have a favorite player from Mizzou growing up?

-

Chris: “I didn't, necessarily, just the team itself.”

Q: What did you think about the campus on your first visit? Are you excited about the new South end zone training facility?

-

Chris: “Yeah it’s a beautiful diverse campus with amazing people the facilities are awesome, and the new end zone is going to be the icing on the cake.”

Q: Who first recruited you and what is your relationship with Barry Odom and the staff?

-

Chris: “Coach Walters! And man..I love those guys they’re like family!”

Q: What do you think you can add to this Mizzou secondary? What would you say is the best part of your game and what do you look to improve on at Mizzou?

-

Chris: “I think I can see myself just contributing in any way possible. I have played every position in the secondary at the highest level in high school football so I just want to overall get better at the Zou.”

Q: It is evident you guys want to make this class the one to change the culture of Mizzou football. How do you hope to do so and what do you say to guys who are thinking about coming on?

-

Chris: “We going to change the culture here period! So hop on the train..haha..I’m going to leave it at that.”

Chris Shearin will also be an early enrollee at Mizzou and will join several other Mizzou commits in January. He is a very fun, energetic guy and will also be a fan favorite at Mizzou and looked up to on and off the field.
